Fitting, Safety & Care Instructions
IMPORTANT – READ BEFORE USE
Please read these instructions carefully before using your Bloc Tactical eyewear. Failure to follow these instructions may reduce the level of protection provided and could result in serious eye injury.
Correct Fit
For your eyewear to provide the intended level of protection, it must be fitted correctly before every use.
- Place the eyewear comfortably over your eyes with the temples positioned securely over your ears.
- Ensure the frame sits close to your face without causing discomfort.
- Adjust the nose piece (where fitted) until the eyewear sits centrally and securely.
- If supplied with a head strap, adjust it so the eyewear remains firmly in position during movement without excessive pressure.
- Before each use, check that the lenses are fully seated and locked into the frame where interchangeable lens systems are used.
- Verify that your field of vision is clear and unrestricted before use.
If the eyewear becomes loose, damaged or does not fit securely, discontinue use until it has been repaired or replaced.
Safe Use
- Always inspect your eyewear before each use.
- Replace the eyewear immediately if the frame is cracked, distorted or otherwise damaged.
- Replace lenses if they become heavily scratched, cracked, chipped or damaged, as this may reduce optical quality and impact performance.
- Never modify, drill, cut, bend or alter any part of the frame or lenses.
- Only use genuine Bloc replacement lenses and accessories designed for your specific model.
- Ensure replacement lenses are correctly fitted and securely locked into position before use.
- Protective eyewear should be selected according to the hazards present. Users are responsible for ensuring the eyewear is suitable for their intended application.
Important Safety Information
- Bloc Tactical eyewear provides certified impact protection only when used correctly and in accordance with its intended purpose.
- No protective eyewear can provide unlimited protection against every hazard or impact.
- Eye protection should always be used alongside appropriate safety procedures, training and any additional protective equipment required for the task.
- Protective eyewear is not a substitute for engineering controls, machine guards or safe working practices.
- Do not use spectacles where sealed chemical splash or hazardous vapour protection is required. Suitable safety goggles should be selected instead.
- Do not use standard impact lenses for protection against laser radiation. Only eyewear fitted with certified laser protection lenses suitable for the specific wavelength and power should be used.
- Materials used in the manufacture of protective eyewear may cause skin irritation or allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
High-Speed Particle Protection
Where protection against high-speed particles at extreme temperatures is required, only eyewear carrying the appropriate certification marking (for example FT, BT or AT as applicable under EN 166) should be used.
If the impact marking is not followed by the letter T, the eyewear is certified only for protection against high-speed particles at room temperature.
Use with Prescription Glasses
Wearing protective eyewear over prescription spectacles may transmit impact energy to the prescription eyewear, creating an additional hazard.
Where prescription correction is required, only approved prescription inserts or certified prescription safety solutions should be used where applicable.
Lens Selection
Different lens tints are designed for different environments.
- Clear lenses are suitable for low-light and indoor use.
- Tinted lenses reduce brightness in daylight conditions.
- High-contrast lenses enhance contrast but may alter colour perception.
- Mirror coatings are designed to reduce glare but may show cosmetic marking during repeated projectile impacts without affecting the structural integrity of the lens.
Do not use tinted lenses for:
- Night driving.
- Looking directly at the sun.
- Viewing artificial high-intensity light sources.
- Welding, cutting or brazing operations unless specifically certified for those applications.
Photochromic lenses may not darken fully when used behind vehicle windscreens because most windscreens filter ultraviolet light.
Cleaning & Care
To maximise the life of your eyewear:
- Rinse dirt or debris from the lenses before cleaning.
- Clean only with water or a mild soap solution.
- Dry using the supplied microfibre cloth or a clean, soft, lint-free cloth.
- Store eyewear in its protective case when not in use.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to excessive heat or direct sunlight when stored.
Do not use:
- Ammonia-based cleaners
- Alcohol-based cleaners
- Solvents
- Abrasive cleaning compounds
- Paper towels or abrasive cloths
These materials may damage lens coatings and reduce impact performance.
Product Life
Protective eyewear should be inspected regularly.
Replace the product immediately if:
- lenses become cracked or chipped;
- the frame is cracked, distorted or excessively worn;
- the lens retention system no longer securely holds the lens;
- visibility is significantly impaired due to scratching or coating damage.
