Product Safety & User Responsibility Policy
1. Purpose
At Bloc Tactical, user safety is our highest priority. Our eyewear is designed and independently tested to provide high levels of impact protection when used correctly and within its intended application.
This Product Safety & User Responsibility Policy explains the intended use of Bloc Tactical products, the responsibilities of the user and important safety information relating to protective eyewear.
This policy should be read alongside our:
- Terms & Conditions
- Warranty Policy
- Inspection, Care & Maintenance Guide
- Returns & Refund Policy
Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights.
2. Intended Use
Bloc Tactical eyewear is designed to provide certified eye protection for appropriate activities where impact-resistant protective eyewear is required.
Depending on the model, products may be suitable for:
- Military personnel
- Law enforcement
- Security professionals
- Shooting sports
- Airsoft
- Outdoor tactical training
- Industrial applications where certified impact protection is appropriate
Always ensure the certification of your chosen product is suitable for your intended use.
3. Product Certification
Bloc Tactical products are independently tested against recognised safety standards where specified on the individual product.
Depending on the model, certification may include:
- EN166 1 FT KN
- ANSI Z87.1
- STANAG 2920
- MIL-PRF performance testing
Certification applies only to genuine, unmodified Bloc Tactical products.
Any modification, alteration or unauthorised repair may invalidate the product's certification and reduce the level of protection provided.
4. Limitations of Protective Eyewear
Protective eyewear significantly reduces the risk of eye injury but cannot eliminate all risk.
No protective eyewear can guarantee protection against every:
- impact;
- projectile;
- explosion;
- fragment;
- ricochet;
- environmental hazard; or
- misuse.
Users should always assess whether the selected eyewear is suitable for the specific risks associated with their activity.
Certification indicates that a product has met defined testing requirements. It does not mean the product is indestructible or suitable for every possible hazard.
5. User Responsibilities
Before using Bloc Tactical eyewear, you are responsible for ensuring that:
- the product is suitable for your intended activity;
- the eyewear fits correctly and securely;
- the lenses are clean and provide unobstructed vision;
- there are no cracks, chips or other visible damage;
- interchangeable lenses are correctly installed and fully locked into position;
- any optional gasket or head strap is correctly fitted where required.
If the product does not fit correctly or appears damaged, it should not be used.
6. Inspection Before Every Use
Before every use, inspect your eyewear for signs of damage or wear.
Check:
- lenses for cracks, chips or deep scratches;
- frame for distortion or damage;
- temples for secure attachment;
- nose piece for correct positioning;
- lens retention system;
- head strap (where fitted);
- gasket (where fitted).
Do not use the product if any component appears damaged or loose.
7. After an Impact
Protective eyewear is designed to absorb and disperse impact energy.
Following any significant impact, even where no damage is immediately visible, the product should be carefully inspected.
If there is any doubt regarding the integrity of the frame or lenses, discontinue use immediately and replace the affected components or the complete product.
Visible damage such as cracks, deformation or loose components indicates that the product should no longer be used.
8. Correct Fit
Proper fit is essential to achieve the intended level of protection.
Before use:
- ensure the temples sit comfortably over the ears;
- adjust the nose piece (where fitted);
- ensure the frame sits close to the face without causing discomfort;
- confirm there are no excessive gaps around the eyes;
- fit the optional head strap where additional retention is required.
Protective performance may be reduced if the eyewear does not fit correctly.
9. Cleaning & Maintenance
To preserve lens performance and protective properties:
- rinse lenses with clean water before wiping if contaminated with dust or grit;
- clean using a clean microfibre cloth;
- allow lenses to air dry where practical;
- store in the supplied protective case when not in use.
Do not use:
- ammonia-based cleaners;
- alcohol-based cleaners;
- solvents;
- abrasive cleaners;
- household cleaning products;
- paper towels;
- scouring materials.
These products may permanently damage lens coatings and reduce optical performance.
Always follow the guidance contained within our Inspection, Care & Maintenance Guide.
10. Storage
Store eyewear:
- in the supplied protective case;
- away from excessive heat;
- away from direct sunlight for prolonged periods when not in use;
- in a clean, dry environment.
Avoid leaving eyewear:
- on vehicle dashboards;
- near heaters;
- in direct contact with chemicals;
- beneath heavy objects that may distort the frame.
11. Product Modifications
Users must not:
- drill the frame;
- modify the lenses;
- remove safety components;
- paint or coat the product;
- replace components with non-approved parts;
- alter the frame shape using heat.
Any modification may reduce the level of protection and invalidate certification and warranty coverage.
12. Prescription Inserts
Only approved Bloc Tactical prescription inserts should be used where applicable.
Prescription inserts must be correctly fitted before use.
Users remain responsible for ensuring that their prescription is current and suitable for their intended activity.
13. Counterfeit Products
Only genuine Bloc Tactical products are independently tested and certified.
Counterfeit or imitation products may not provide the level of protection claimed and are not covered by our warranty.
To ensure authenticity, purchase directly from Bloc Tactical or an authorised retailer.
14. Children
Bloc Tactical products are not toys.
Children should only use protective eyewear under appropriate adult supervision and only where the selected product is suitable for the intended activity and correctly fitted.
15. Professional Users
Military, law enforcement, industrial and commercial users should ensure that product selection complies with their organisation's operational requirements, health and safety policies and applicable legislation.
Employers remain responsible for carrying out appropriate risk assessments and selecting suitable personal protective equipment for their personnel.
16. Limitation of Responsibility
Bloc Tactical designs and manufactures protective eyewear to recognised performance standards. However, no manufacturer can guarantee that protective eyewear will prevent all eye injuries in every circumstance.
Users are responsible for:
- selecting the correct product for their intended application;
- ensuring correct fit;
- inspecting the product before each use;
- maintaining the product in good condition;
- replacing damaged or excessively worn products.
Failure to follow the instructions provided by Bloc Tactical may reduce the level of protection offered by the product.
17. Product Safety Updates
If Bloc Tactical becomes aware of a safety issue affecting one of our products, we may publish updated safety information or issue replacement, repair or recall notices where appropriate.
Customers are encouraged to retain proof of purchase and keep their contact details up to date to assist with any product safety communications.
